Our Electric Vehicle group is challenging the accepted and attempting to solve the world’s most critical problems. We support clients across the full Electric Vehicle (EV) supply chain – including battery cells, recycling, and key component materials – in designing their new facilities. Examples include multiple global battery cell, EV automotive and battery recycling facilities/gigafactories in recent years. This position’s primary focus is applying your knowledge and experience in the manufacturing of natural and/or synthetic graphite for the battery industry to market our expertise, provide guidance to our clients, and develop proposals and execution strategies to deliver manufacturing facilities. You will provide expertise and guide delivery across several projects and clients, designing and delivering these manufacturing facilities. We’re looking for experienced engineers who are excited about projects which enable the heart of our clients’ businesses. You may be an expert Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Equipment/Mechanical Design Engineer or other similar discipline. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive project team will establish process design basis, develop options and optimize the selected design. Your role keeps our company connected to this industry and we’ll support you with what you need to be successful.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Successfully provide technical expertise to the engineering, project management, design teams and other groups within organization as a subject matter expect (SME) in his or her relevant area of expertise 
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Provide leadership and market knowledge as we establish market strategies and evaluate potential opportunities.
  • Provide engineering support to help resolve challenging issues requiring industry knowledge and expertise.
  • Assist in project proposals by ascertaining scope, determining the required design budgets and when necessary, serve as subject matter expert (SME) during proposal presentations.
  • Mentor and train colleagues on current technologies, best practices and future developments in your area
  • Provide input to the engineering team with regards to the local and industry standards, design scope changes, deliverables, timelines, and provide feedback on deliverables quality.
  • Ensure the expectations of the project deliverables are met while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Review design work to ensure every design maintains the highest level of quality. Continually develop and improve upon project workflows and standards to ensure each design is consistently excellent.
  • Participate in executive funding reviews and engineering concept reviews on behalf of our engineering teams.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant professional experience
  • Design and leadership experience in a role as a Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Equipment/Mechanical Design Engineer or other similar discipline in the Graphite and/or Battery Materials Manufacturing industry 
  • Experience in Process Design, Process Improvement or Operations within the graphite and battery manufacturing supply chain.
  • Capability to effectively communicate with our clients and across multiple teams 
  • Experience with design and operation of manufacturing processes in several of the following areas:
    • Graphite/Coke/Heavy material handling (i.e. Crushing & conveying)
    • Graphitization or carbonization 
    • Coke processing
    • Crushing & milling
    • Shaping & Calcination
    • Graphite finishing 
    • Forming or electrospinning 
    • Bulk powder handling, loss in weight feeders, calcination, graphitization, milling, sieving, evaporation, crystallization, and wastewater treatment systems. 
  • Possess working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Plant3D or similar specification development software

Ideally, you’ll also have: 

  • Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and/or Korean
  • Thought leadership including the ability to speak at industry events.
  • Experienced with design and operation of utility systems such as industrial and process wastewater, chilled water, reverse osmosis/DI water, compressed air, nitrogen gas, specialty chemicals such as NMP or electrolyte, dust collection and other similar systems
